 We are getting ready for the AAU Houston Grand Prix Volleyball Tournament and want to get some information out to everyone about our policies and procedures at Each site. We all must make sure the policies are being followed Coaches, Staff and Spectators

Doors will open at 7:00am each Day.

Each Facility will have their own protocol for all persons entering the facility.

Rules for the Facility   No Parking under the Porte’ Cache at Better Beginnings Daycare, Goforth Park, in front of the dispatch center behind Texas Tornados Building or any marked handicap or fire lane.  Please park on Wheat Cross Drive, Tornados parking lot or the church across the street on Saturday’s.  The church parking lot is also available on Sunday’s after 1pm.  You may also park in the parking spaces at Better Beginnings day care. In addition, we offer a FREE Shuttle service for over-flow parking at BIRKES Elementary School (Queenston / West Rd.).

  • No coolers, outside food or drinks allowed inside the facility when the snack bar is open.  Water bottles will be the only exception to this rule.

  • Please utilize courts only at the agreed upon times.  Only players and coaches will be allowed on the wood courts.

  • Only Court shoes or socks will be allowed on the wood courts.

  • All children attending the tournament must be always supervised by their parent/legal guardian.  Texas Tornados assumes no responsibility for injuries due to lack of supervision.

  • Contact person or a designated person running the event must be present and available at all reserved times.

  • Report all spills or cleanups immediately to a Texas Tornado manager on duty.

  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed inside or outside the facility unless special permission is granted.  If serving alcohol, then you must provide a permit and security.

  • We reserve the right to remove anyone using profanity, not complying with Texas Tornados Training Facility rules, or displaying abusive behavior from the premises. 

  • Designated walkways inside the facility must be kept clear for emergencies.

  • You must purchase a ticket to be allowed into the facility. Tickets are available online at Eventbrite or sold at the door.

AWARDS: 1st, 2nd place winners in the Gold will receive medals and a plaque. 1st place winners in the other divisions will receive a medal.

REGISTRATION:  Registration for this event will open in August 1, 2021. The entry fee is $365 and the deadline for event entry is February 1, 2022 or earlier if capacity is reached. Registration for this tournament is done on Advanced Event System.

OFFICALS:    All matches will have top officials


TIE-BREAKERS: For this year's event, there will NOT be any tie-breaking games played.  In the case of a tie, the teams will be ranked by head-to-head results in case of a 2-way tie, or in the case of a 3-way tie: set percentage, and then, if necessary, point percentage.


Check in will take place at each playing site 30 minutes before you play. You must bring a AAU Roster to Check in.  Please make sure to double check which venue you are playing at to check-in. 


  • Due to the incidents in the previous years, there will be a NO TOLERANCE policy for misbehavior by players/teams and spectators in the venues 

  • Ball Handling is allowed on the volleyball courts only. 

  • Coolers and outside food and drink are NOT ALLOWED in the playing facilities. Only water and sports drinks may be brought inside the facilities. 

  • Violation of these policies or any other general misbehaviors may result in IMMEDIATE dismissal from the facility for the remainder of the day.

ATHLETIC TRAINERS: There will be a athletic trainers available to tape and assist with minor injuries and serve as a first responder to more serious injuries.  
Athletes must provide tape and pre-warp for any pre-existing needs.  Tape and pre-wrap are only provided by the tournament for emergency purposes.

CDC GUIDELINES-We will follow the rules of the CDC  in this area of Tennessee. We will be sending out additional information on the rules for entering and playing in the facilities. 


•  This event is licensed by the Amateur Athletic Union of the U.S., Inc.

•  All participants must have current AAU membership numbers before competition begins (pending status is not acceptable).  Visit www.aauvolleyball.org to obtain membership (club, non-athlete and athlete membership required).

•  Membership is not included in the event entry fee

•  BE PREPARED:  Adult and Non-Athlete memberships are no longer instant and cannot be applied for at the event.  Please allow up to 10 days for membership to be processed.



*Winning teams in age divisions with 12 or more teams will receive a free entry fee to the 2022 AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships, the West Coast AAU Championships, or the Volleyball Festival.  In divisions with less than 12 teams, the entry fee will be discounted. 

*You must contact aauvolleyball@aausports.org after the event to let them know you are interested in attending one of the reduced entities events.

*All teams must register for the event by the appropriate deadline.  The National and West Coast Championships, as well as the Volleyball Festival are open to any team, no qualifying required.  For complete rules and guidelines for Super Regional or Grand Prix events, please visit www.aauvolleyball.org.

  AAU Event Roster Requirements:

·        All players listed on the roster must be registered or members in good standing with their respective member organization.

·        All players must meet age classifications requirements.

·        All staff listed on the roster must be registered or members in good standing with AAU.

·        Please enter correct player data on AES by February 18, 2022

  • This is an AAU Licensed Event. All participants must be current AAU Members.

  • AES rosters are required. Rosters must be imported from the AAU website.
